Some Sites Need a New LayoutAugust.24.2008
I'm talking about one in specific, Iconator. Now, I don't go there anymore because of two reason. 1) I can make my own icons so I don't need to download them. 2) I wouldn't sign up for an account and try to make a unique and pretty profile when the background color is blue.
The only color that works well with that background is white, black, other blues and some others. Trust me, I know, I've tried. Now I'm not saying that it's a bad color. Two out of five of something I make in Photoshop, usually have in that shade of blue. But I don't use it as the main color. I could see them using that color as the background color, links or the headers' color.
I've actually emailed Iconator about their layout and restriction of HTML tags in user profiles. Really, only link tags? They emailed me back saying to watch in the next couple of months for a "major change". I received that email in January of February. That was seven or eight months ago, I think that's long enough for a "couple months".
Now that I'm done with my rant, let me ask you this. Are there any sites that you visit with layouts that bother you?
It's definitely long enough for a couple of months. A couple=2. :P
Iconator is so slow-loading, I try not to use it anymore if I don't have to. Now I just search for icons on LJ or make my own.
Bah, Iconator is so ridiculous. But it's had that layout for so long, visitors would flip if they changed it. It's the signature ugly layout for Iconator.
Myspace has always been horrible. The main site itself is as cluttered and obnoxious as some of the profiles people make. And I'm not even getting into code.
I COMPLETELY agree with you. They've had that layout since I started going there (in 2006, I think) and the only thing that's changed is 1) the icons are crappier 2) they have those stupid advertisements that pop up everywhere
Actually, today the layout is pink with people jumping on it. I almost got blinded looking at the two colors together. xD
